A phenomenal season for the team who has mostly 02 players. The team was lead by team veterans Brayan, Mehdi and Alan. The only undefeated record for a U19 team and the entire league. Their mantra was always, "The effort is non-negotiable."
The Fairfax Police Youth Club (FPYC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of leadership, sportsmanship, and physical fitness, while encouraging and providing opportunities for youth to participate in a variety of sports. The Club was originally founded as a joint police department and community program. FPYC has since developed into an independent community organization and is self-supporting.
In 2013, we celebrated our 50th Anniversary with celebrations throughout the year. FPYC received the Mayor and City Council 1st Place Award for our float, balloons, and walkers in the city's annual 4th of July parade. Thanks to all of our volunteers for making this accomplishment happen!
While totally independent, the police department still strongly supports FPYC and has representatives on the FPYC Board of Directors. Today, FPYC provides sporting venues for the youth of both the City of Fairfax and children from surrounding areas of Fairfax County. Sports that are available through FPYC include: Basketball, Cheerleading, Field Hockey, Football, Lacrosse, Rugby, Running, Soccer, T-Ball, Volleyball, Wrestling and Youth Challenged sports.
The Eagles Program was started in 2007 as a recreational soccer team playing in the Suburban Friendship League (SFL), giving our low income players and those families new to organized sports a home. In 2012 the program moved to travel soccer entering into the Old Dominion Soccer League (ODSL) and in 2014 the team earned entry into the National Capital Soccer League (NCSL). Our team has maintained that all players regardless of ability to pay should be given the opportunity to grow and showcase their soccer talents in a platform with inter-state reach. Our program not just builds players to become better athletes but it also focuses on building men of great character who will have a positive impact in our communities.
The fact that we have one of the lowest team fees in the region and still play in top flights is testament to the efforts of the team staff, support of our families and relentless work from our players. We encourage all players despite of goals to use soccer and our team as a path to bigger and better opportunities, focusing on college level play. The program participates in targeted college ID camps and tournaments that are college showcase platforms.
